Federal prosecutor Jeff Trask is summoned to a murder scene. A Park Police officer has been brutally murdered at the Lincoln Memorial. As Trask and a team of local and federal investigators try to find the killer, more police officers are murdered. While attending the funeral for one of these victims, Trask and his team find themselves in a firefight with a cell of radical Islamic terrorists. This was totally engrossing, riveting, and it seizes your interest from the very beginning, and continues building tension at an extreme pace. You will feel as if you were in the cars with them, pushing on the accelerator and you can feel your adrenaline rising, pulsing and pounding, all the way to the explosive ending. This book will take you out of your comfort zone, and is graphic in places. The contents described are current day happenings, which makes it even more realistic and horrifying, and spares little love for politics and government bureaucracy.The "Author's Notes", at the very end, shows his feelings, frustrations and disgust the the inept, self-serving, ego-based government that we have had, from Watergate to Comey/Clinton. I, personally, feel his opinion was wonderful, insightful, and I agree whole-heartedly. I don't care if anyone else does; I DO...
I am glad the author retired (especially before this book came out). He deserves it. He just better not stop writing...

Excellent can't put down read! Very informative regarding Muslim cells training in U.S., Especially how easy it can be to kill so many innocent people in the name of Allah. Scary read which I highly recommend for everyone. So many changes needed in Justice system and immigration.
This book should be required reading for every American in today’s society. Reality sets in when reading a fascinating story. The author should be applauded for his work. Will read his work in the future!
I have never read a more riveting book. You can tell he had knowledge of the subject. I was impressed by his ability to read people and do exactly what he had to to get the heads of the congressional committee to see how they were so wrong. I like this author. He says it like it is. Not just in his books but on the epilogue. Thank you for a great read.

That Mr. Rainer, an obvious excellent attorney, has expressed his beliefs based on experience in a subject that should keep us awake at night wondering where this country is heading. I thank God that President Trump was elected, but afraid it may be too late to repair the damage that the Obama administration has done. I can only hope. Excellent job Mr. Rainer, I look forward to reading your other works.
So many things I could say about bringing SO MANY IMPORTANT ISSUES to the limelight.
Extremely perceptive of many different scenarios, all very possible but hopefully not probable .
Thoroughly enjoyed the book, although it will cause me to shudder, thinking how many of the possibilities presented in this book have in real life already had the way paved to offer the opportunity for these chilling scenes to unfold.
Perhaps this is a warning to look to the way our path has twisted over the last decade.
This book is so much more than just a thriller that will keep you reading into the night...I felt like the author was preaching to the choir...it’s unbelievable how much our government under the previous administration has tried to destroy the foundation this country was built upon...I think the silent majority has finally awoken & realized how corrupt our government really is, but cleaning it up is really going to take years under new, nonpolitical leadership. In other words, drain the swamp. Great job on the book Mr Rainer, I am truly impressed & humbled by your integrity...our country needs more men like you desperately. Thank you!
A compelling read and if you speed read or don't require sleep, you will finish this book at one sitting. I, myself, took two days to read. Jeff Trask combines intelligence, ethics, morality and common sense as an attorney sworn to uphold the Constitution and not political agendas.
You couldn't pick a better author to read but I advise you to start at the beginning with the first book in the series, Capital Kill, to Death's White Horses, to Horns of the Devil, before reading A Winter of Wolves.
Each subsequent book ties to the previous one, so you will want to read them in order to have and understand how everything relates. Jeff Trask might say 'we are the sum of all of our experiences' but he might have heard the tune, Memories, as he spoke.
If you have read Tom Clancy/Jack Ryan series and/or W.E.B. Griffin 's Corps series, you will definitely enjoy Rainer's Jeff Trask.
